Hearst Fashion

Hearst wanted to find a way to connect with the tech community, launch their new media API, and cause a PR splash during Fashion Week.

AngelHack created the Hearst Fashion Hack – a fashion hackathon which would take place during Fashion Week and allow the top teams to work alongside Hearst editors to attend high profile Fashion Week events. The event would also provide an ideal location for Hearst’s development team to get feedback on their new product.

AngelHack managed marketing, partner relations, judge outreach, website creation, and facilitated the event in Hearst’s NYC headquarters. We also ran a Fashion + Tech pre-hackathon event bringing in the top Fashion institutes and local developers.

AngelHack signed up over 300 fashion developers from around the world and brought in 12 top tier partners to attend the event including Google, Microsoft, Gilt, Uber, and Spotify. We also brought in high profile VIPs such as Wesley Chan from Google Ventures and Jordan Crook of TechCrunch, who added to the media frenzy and ensured the event was talked about by both fashion and tech sources. All of Hearst’s C-level executives were in attendance and the event was considered a huge success with 5 teams getting called back to speak with Hearst for Recruiting and potential Product Development.

“AngelHack took our idea from an interesting opportunity to a wildly successful reality. Their expertise and professionalism made our first time hack a world class experience.”

Phil Wiser, Chief Technology Officer of Hearst Corporation
