Jakarta is experiencing a digital boom – this can open up new opportunities for small vendors, but they may also face challenges in adopting new technologies. Create a solution that helps to integrate this demographic into the wider economy
Social Responsibility
Jakarta is highly vulnerable to natural disasters. Develop a solution to enhance public safety and community resilience in response to the growing impacts of climate change.
Digital Empowerment
In alignment with Grab’s mission to “Drive Southeast Asia forward by creating economic empowerment for everyone”, your challenge is to harness Generative AI (text, image, or video) to innovate and elevate Grab’s Passenger, Driver, or Merchant mobile application’s core journey (e.g., transport, food, mart). Develop a creative, scalable solution using Generative AI that improves user experience within the Grab app, drives economic growth, and empowers individuals and businesses within Southeast Asia.

FAQ
When is hackjakarta being held?
hackjakarta is part of AngelHack’s The Global Hackathon Series and will be held on the 27th and 28th July 2024.
The Grand Winner of hackjakarta will be guaranteed a spot in The Global Hackathon Series Grand Finals happening in Singapore in October 2024.
Who can participate in hackjakarta?
We want anyone with ideas or the passion to innovate to participate. With that said, having basic programming knowledge and skills could increase the chances of your team winning as a functioning MVP is required for project submission. All participants must be 18 years old and above as well.
When does the hackathon registration close?
Registration opens on 30 May 2024 and closes on 26 July 2024, 11:59 PM (GMT +7).
Will I need a team to participate?
You’re absolutely welcome to participate solo in hackjakarta! However, it’s important to keep in mind that only teams can submit hackathon projects. A team can consist of 1 to 4 members. If you’re looking for a team or additional team members, we’ve allocated time on Day 1 of the hackathon specifically for team formation. We strongly encourage participants to collaborate with others and form teams during this period. Teaming up allows you to incorporate diverse skillsets and perspectives into your project, enhancing your overall experience!
Do all of my team members have to register for hackjakarta?
Yes! Anyone who wishes to participate in hackjakarta must register individually via Eventbrite.
How many challenge statements can a team submit their project under?
A team can submit their project under 1 challenge statement only during each hackathon.
What happens to the projects developed during the hackathon after the event?
Participants will wholly own the intellectual property rights to the projects they develop during the hackathon. There are no obligations for participants to share, license, or commercialize their projects. Your creations are yours to explore and develop as you see fit.
