Tracks & Challenge Statements

Financial Inclusion
Seoul’s population is tech-savvy but faces a high cost of living. Develop a solution aimed at millennials to promote financial literacy and encourage saving habits.

Social Responsibility
Seoul faces environmental challenges and is committed to technological innovation. Develop a project to improve urban living and reduce pollution, aligning with South Korea’s green initiatives and improving urban liveability.

Digital Empowerment
Coupang
As South Korea’s leading e-commerce platform, Coupang is committed to pushing the boundaries of online shopping. We challenge you to create innovative solutions that can significantly improve customer satisfaction, increase user engagement, and drive business growth in the e-commerce space, building upon Coupang’s foundation of fast delivery and customer-centric service.
zkPass
South Korea is home to one of the world’s most tech-savvy citizens and advanced digital infrastructure. This puts the country in a unique position to lead the way in creating new solutions for digital identity and privacy protection. Build on this momentum by developing an innovative app using the zkPass SDK. Your app should leverage zero-knowledge proofs to securely verify and share personal data on-chain without revealing the actual data.

FAQ
When is hackseoul being held?
hackseoul is part of AngelHack’s The Global Hackathon Series and will be held on the 24th and 25th August 2024.
The Grand Winner of hackseoul will be guaranteed a spot in The Global Hackathon Series Grand Finals happening in Singapore in October 2024.
Who can participate in hackseoul?
We want anyone with ideas or the passion to innovate to participate. With that said, having basic programming knowledge and skills could increase the chances of your team winning as a functioning MVP is required for project submission. All participants must be 18 years old and above as well.
Must I be able to speak or understand Korean to participate in hackseoul?
While hackseoul welcomes participants from diverse backgrounds, please note that there will be some keynote sessions conducted exclusively in Korean and there may be judges that are more proficient in Korean than English. Therefore, we strongly recommend for participants who are not fluent in Korean to consider teaming up with at least one native Korean speaker to ensure a smoother experience during the hackathon.
While not strictly mandatory, Korean language skills will significantly enhance your participation and networking opportunities during hackseoul!
When does the hackathon registration close?
Registration opens on 26 June 2024 and closes on 23 August 2024, 11:59 PM (GMT +9).
Will I need a team to participate?
You’re absolutely welcome to participate solo in hackseoul! However, it’s important to keep in mind that only teams can submit hackathon projects. A team can consist of 1 to 4 members. If you’re looking for a team or additional team members, we’ve allocated time on Day 1 of the hackathon specifically for team formation. We strongly encourage participants to collaborate with others and form teams during this period. Teaming up allows you to incorporate diverse skillsets and perspectives into your project, enhancing your overall experience!
Do all of my team members have to register for hackseoul?
Yes! Anyone who wishes to participate in hackseoul must register individually via Eventbrite.
How many challenge statements can a team submit their project under?
A team can submit their project under 1 challenge statement only during each hackathon.
What happens to the projects developed during the hackathon after the event?
Participants will wholly own the intellectual property rights to the projects they develop during the hackathon. There are no obligations for participants to share, license, or commercialize their projects. Your creations are yours to explore and develop as you see fit.
Who can I contact if I have any questions?
Contact the AngelHack team on the official Event Discord or at hackglobal@angelhack.com for further clarifications!
