Code the Future of Entertainment at the Comcast NBCUniversal Hackathon!

Psst! Hey, you! Yes, you – the guy streaming shows on your shiny iPad, while more shows play off your DVR., as you tweet yet another TV meme. Get ready, because you can be a part of entertainment’s future!

This June 21st, at the Comcast NBCUniversal Hackathon, you’ll join the best minds in television, movies, home entertainment, media and technology to come up with new ways to enjoy our favorite shows – no matter what screen! OH YEAH.

It wasn’t long ago when TV was only in the living room. You had to actually be there to watch your shows, and – get this – you could only watch them at a certain time! Feels like the stone age,  right?! Fortunately, my screen savvy friends, we’ve come a long way since then. We can now watch all our favorite shows wherever and whenever we want – phones, tablets, computers, gaming consoles… and, of course, televisions.

Content anywhere, at any time. I wonder what’s next… how will we watch our favorite TV shows and movies in the future? I, for one, would love to be able to tweet at the characters in real time, and tell them to leave the damn door shut so the zombies don’t eat them. Or have trivia pop up on my phone as I watch a show on my tablet – because when I get into a show, that show becomes my LIFE. Am I alone here? Don’t we all watch as many episodes as humanly possible? No eating, no sleeping, eyes bloodshot, small headache with slight body pains and yet we just…can’t…. turn it off!

Hey, it’s kind of like participating in a hackathon! At the Comcast NBCUniversal Hackathon, you’ll change the way people take in content, interact with talent, and more at NBCUniversal’s sweet new Technology Center in New Jersey. Once you’re done, you’ll get to present your app in the iconic Studio 8H at 30 Rock in New York. So get ready to code the FUTURE OF ENTERTAINMENT.
